About Us

Wellmeadow House is situated in the rural town of Blairgowrie, Perth & Kinross and is home to Strathmore Centre for Youth Development – SCYD (SCIO).

Following comprehensive consultations in 2004 which identified the need to engage with young people to support positive outcomes for them and the community they reside in SCYD was established in May 2005 as a registered charity. SCYD operated as a drop in service for young people from small premises in Leslie Street, Blairgowrie to provide access to information and support for young people and to tackle the issue of under resourced youth facilities in the area. SCYD has since grown exponentially and in, 2015 moved into more suitable premises at Wellmeadow House to accommodate both the expanding service delivery and staff team.

Wellmeadow House has since become an established and thriving Youth and Community Centre in the centre of the rural town of Blairgowrie offering a wide range of activities, events and access to services for the whole community. For further information on our core youth and community activities please visit our SCYD and Community Connections pages.

Wellmeadow House also acts as a valuable community asset providing an affordable venue for a variety of community groups and organisations to host their own activities.

We work in partnership with a number of external agencies, both statutory and third sector, to ensure access to information and services is available throughout the community.

Governed in accordance with Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator guidelines and regulations by the Board of Trustees the day to day operational management of the organisation is carried out by the staff team.
